Designer Microbes Incorporated (DMI), a genetic engineering company from London, Ontario specializing in sustainable energy production and agriculture, has been awarded a NSERC Engage Grant of $25,000 for “Development of novel vectors for synthetic biology industrial applications which require capture of large, difficult to clone repetitive DNA fragments” with Dr. Miodrag Grbic from University of Western Ontario. These vectors will be used to expressed spider mite silk genes in DMI’s designer microbes.
